Things to make your pets comfortable on the road.
Safety seats will secure your pet while driving. A lot of pet parents will allow their pets to wander while they drive, this is not the safest for your pets. You can control what you are doing, but you can not control the road conditions, other drivers, and the weather. Using a harness connected to the seatbelt connector will keep your pets safe. If you have cats, there are options for the kitties too. Make sure whatever safety seat or bed you choose that it attaches to the seat belt and around the headrest so it is secure and wont move if the unforeseen happens.
Filtered water bowl to keep your pets healthy while away from home. Water tastes different where ever you go. Even if you will be using distilled water or have a filter from the onsite water connection, you will need a water bowl that will filter all the bacteria, debris, and saliva from the water. Using a dog water fountain or a cat water fountain will keep the water fresh and the sound of the water will make you pet more interested in drinking the fresh water.
Whether you make your pets food, use kibble, or a combination of the two, keeping it fresh will keep your pets healthy. Keeping unwanted pests out of their food is paramount as well. Using the proper containers will keep food and treats safe and fresh.
Keeping your pets safe outside is paramount. No matter what you have outdoors to contain your pets, DO NOT LEAVE THEM UNATTENDED! For dogs you can carry different portable fencing options. There are panels, For cats there are some awesome catios available so they can get some fresh air and still be around their humans. The fence and the catios have options of adding on to either one. The fence you can make larger or smaller depending on the site. The catio has options of adding large tubes and smaller cubes so the cats can run around. If you want to get fancy, you can add numerous tubes to cubes and then attach it back to the catio. make water available at all times of the year. Of course always ask the RV camping facility what they allow.
Always bring things that are familiar to your pets so they feel more at home on the road like blankets, toys, or anything they use on an everyday basis. They will have less anxiety with familiarity.
